Care Answers · Costs & funding

What funding helps seniors in Alberta?

Overview of Alberta programs that may help seniors with home care, living costs, and support, AHS, CDHCI, VIP, and benefits.

Health-related funding

AHS home care covers assessed medical and personal needs. CDHCI applies when you have an approved client-directed budget. VIP supports eligible veterans through VAC.

Each program has its own application path. None are automatic.

Income and accommodation supports

The Alberta Seniors Benefit and other provincial programs may help with living costs for eligible low-income seniors. Supportive living operators can explain accommodation subsidies.

A social worker or case manager can point you to the right office.
